Creating a Portfolio Notebook is easy and can be fun for your students to see how much they accomplish in this year-long program. It might be something you want to share with officials reviewing your homeschool program or it might be something you do just so your student can look back and see all the exciting things they did!
- Start with a three-ring binder and section it off with ten page dividers labeling for each monthly topic.
- Fill out and keep in the new notebook for each class.
- Pre & Post Visit Educational Supplements is a place to write about any related activities or resources used in conjunction with each class, and noting student and parent observations.
- Ask the class teacher to sign your student's form after it has been filled out. It's a great way to help your student connect with the teacher and share what he or she is learning.
- Keep all related hand-outs, activity sheets, facility brochures and flyers, student writings in the notebook with each monthly class.
- Encourage your student to take pictures of their classroom projects so you've captured what they created and can add it to their portfolio notebooks.
